Are you running your business in the cloud? Should you?
And Now Media, a boutique video production company in New York, does all their work and communications in the cloud. Well, everything except video editing, explained John Palacio, Producer/Director for And Now Media.
From creation to conception, using technology in the cloud has become critical to running their video production business, said Palacio. All of their documentation and invoicing is in the cloud because they often go to shoot on location and they need access to their files wherever they happen to be. Plus, they have freelancers that they employ all over the world that need file access as well.
"If you ever get that butt out of your chair and go somewhere else, you won't need to take that computer anymore. You can literally sit down at any computer and have your entire office wherever you go, and that is invaluable," said Palacio. "We all need access, everyone on the team, at all times."
It's not just the flexibility and access to your data anywhere that makes cloud computing so valuable. Cloud computing also means your data is stored offsite and is being backed up for you. Most computer users are unfortunately not good about backing up their data. Cloud computing can solve that problem as well.
"If you're not backing up and you're not using the cloud, then you're in deep trouble," warned Palacio.
